AppFollow Alternative for Indie Mobile Devs

Compare AppFollow and MySigner for replying to App Store and Google Play reviews. When each tool is the right fit.

AppFollow Alternative for Indies Who Just Want a Reviews Inbox

AppFollow built its reputation on review management. The tool is solid: reviews from both stores in one inbox, reply flows, automation rules, sentiment analysis, integrations with Zendesk and Slack. Larger teams with full-time community managers use it well.

For a solo developer or a small mobile team, AppFollow's lowest paid tier (Essential) is $179/mo as of 2026, with the Team plan starting around $599/mo. That's appropriate for teams with a dedicated community manager and overkill for an indie just wanting to reply to reviews.

MySigner has a reviews inbox built into the same dashboard that handles your releases, ASO, and analytics.

Where AppFollow Is Still the Right Answer

Stay on AppFollow if any of these describe you:

  • You have a dedicated community or support manager. Someone whose job is reviews and support. The deeper workflow, sentiment dashboards, and integrations earn their keep.
  • You're plugged into Zendesk, Helpshift, or Intercom. AppFollow's two-way sync between reviews and support tickets is mature. MySigner doesn't replicate it.
  • You manage 20+ apps. AppFollow's portfolio dashboards across many apps are designed for this scale.
  • You need advanced sentiment / theme analysis. AppFollow auto-clusters reviews into themes (battery, crashes, feature requests, etc). MySigner shows basic positive/neutral/negative tagging.

If none of those, keep reading.

What MySigner Replaces

Most indie review workflows look like this: check reviews a few times a week, filter to 1- and 2-star ones, reply with a template or write a fresh response, occasionally notice a pattern (everyone asking about feature X this month).

MySigner Pro covers that exact loop:

One inbox for both stores

Apple App Store and Google Play reviews in one list. Filter by stars, locale, build version, app, or time range. Replied vs unreplied is shown inline so you don't lose track.

Reply templates

Save common replies as templates (e.g., "Bug acknowledgment," "Feature request," "Thanks for the kind words"). Insert with a keyboard shortcut. Templates are organization-wide, so a teammate can use the same set.

Refresh cadence

Pro refreshes every 6 hours. Team refreshes every 30 minutes. For most indies, every 6 hours is plenty. If you need near-real-time alerts (high-traffic launch day, breaking-bug response), Team's 30-minute cadence works.

AppFollow checks more frequently (around every 45 minutes, with real-time per-review alerts on paid tiers). If sub-hourly review notifications are a hard requirement for your team, AppFollow's faster cadence is one reason to stay there.

Filters that match real workflows

Filter by build version to see which release a review is about. Filter by territory to triage by market. Filter by time to find reviews from since-your-last-check.

What MySigner Adds That AppFollow Doesn't

AppFollow is a single-purpose tool: reviews. MySigner is the broader dashboard that also includes:

  • Release pipeline. mysigner ship appstore and mysigner ship play-production build, sign, upload, and submit. No need for Fastlane plus AppFollow plus a screenshot tool.
  • Screenshot Studio. Canvas editor with device frames, 30+ locales of editable AI translations.
  • Keyword tracking. 100 keywords per app on Pro, Apple Search Ads popularity scores in the editor.
  • Store analytics. Daily-synced installs, retention, conversion, ARPU from ASC and Play.
  • Custom Product Pages. Up to 35 variants per iOS app, wired to Apple Search Ads campaigns.

If you currently pay for AppFollow Essential (~$179/mo) plus an ASO tool like Asodesk ($47-$239/mo) or AppTweak (~$69/mo), MySigner Pro at $12/mo covers the same workflow for a tenth of the bill.

Pricing Compared

AppFollow has a real Free tier (2 apps, 1000 keywords, 20 review replies per month, 5 team members). Above that, Essential is $179/mo, Team around $599/mo, and Enterprise is quote-only. The Free tier covers very early-stage use, but the moment you need >20 replies/month, you're on Essential at $179.

MySigner pricing:

  • Free: full CLI, 1 app, unlimited TestFlight, 1 Screenshot Studio project. Reviews inbox is not on Free.
  • Pro $12/mo: 10 apps, reviews inbox (every 6h refresh), ASO + analytics + Screenshot Studio + 100 AI translations per month. 14-day trial, no card.
  • Team $49/mo: multi-org, reviews refresh every 30 minutes, SAML SSO, audit log, RBAC.

If you're on AppFollow Essential ($179/mo) plus an ASO tool plus a screenshot tool, MySigner Pro consolidates that into one bill at $12/mo.

Migration

There's no automated import for AppFollow data. MySigner pulls reviews directly from App Store Connect and Google Play Developer API once you connect your credentials, so historical reviews populate automatically (up to Apple's and Google's review-history retention, which is usually all reviews that are still public).

Reply templates copy over manually. Most indies have 5-10 templates total, so it's a 10-minute job.

FAQ

How fast can I see new reviews? On Pro, reviews refresh every 6 hours. On Team, every 30 minutes. Force a manual sync any time with mysigner sync --force.

Does MySigner sync replies back to the App Store / Play? For App Store, yes (via the App Store Connect API). For Google Play, yes (via the Play Developer API). Replies posted through MySigner show up on the public store page just like replies posted through ASC or Play Console.

Does it auto-translate replies? You can use the AI translation feature (100/month on Pro) to draft a reply in your language and translate to the reviewer's locale before sending. Translations are editable.

What about review automation rules (auto-reply to 5-star reviews, etc)? Not built in. We've deliberately stayed away from auto-replies because most stores explicitly discourage them and users notice. If you want automation, build it via the API.

Try It

If your reviews workflow is "check a few times a week, reply with templates, occasionally notice patterns," MySigner Pro replaces AppFollow Essential for that workflow at roughly 1/15th the cost ($12/mo vs ~$179/mo). 14-day trial, no card.
